Chat GPT and wargaming and RPG   Leave a comment

Been experimenting with AI . It can be useful in fleshing out session notes and also for a limited number of AI art creations. For items it can create a fantastic name with translations in Khazad or Sindarin for example. It can help set out a background and lore and a description. However when asked to offer stats and rules interpretations it will make subtle errors. For example a huge parry bonus or stats from a different version of the one ring. Even when it knows we are in version 2 it will give monsters stats from version one. Some of the item bonuses it is suggesting or monster bonuses potentially would be game breaking but actually quite fun.

With rules questions it will sort of answer in a seemingly correct way but sadly will be wrong most of the time . It definitely has promise there and the answer can always be checked for accuracy.

Probably if you had access to a fully paid art creation package you could use it for RPG but sometimes the images are not suitable and then you run out of tokens before you finish . It cannot edit what it does yet so you still need GIMP or similar . However still nevertheless creating item art and descriptions for the one ring it has excelled ! As long as I do the stats from the main rules.

It is fun to use though and has lots of good ideas and will seem conversational in its replies . So appears to be a useful research assistant helping you get to the final conclusion.

Here is an example of item cards I made for the One Ring.
