Some pictures of my latest 3d printed terrain. Some of it is finished and some at the varnished awaiting final details phase. I think the dwarf building needs the tiles to be more blue just to differentiate from the grey and I might add some more bronze to give it that dwarf building look to match my other pieces for example.
Also one of war games diary subscribers who often posts or likes got a name check on atmoseekers you tube video at the weekend! Small world and how exciting. I know someone famous now. Virtually!
Barrels for the fog machine . The largest resin piece I printed so far and it stayed on the build plate ! Viaduct or dwarven walkways across chasms . Scatter terrain A mine cart awaiting a light to be fitted . Unfinished siege tower . Should I add magnets ? Dwarven building needs some work . A wizard dice tower. A large statue on a plinth.
3d printing has taken over all of my hobby time . What with actual printing FDM or resin . Fixing and maintaining said printers . The resin printer is very tricky and messy but produces great figures when it feels like working.
Then whatever is printed needs to be painted and based !
Last week I printed a plinth for a statue and a marder 3 tank . Before that I printed and painted up quite a few Germans do we could play the chain of command scenarios in the campaign book . So I painted up several machine guns and crews plus a squad of volksgrenadiers as well as some snipers , officers, a medic and assorted tokens for the patrol phase .
Also some buildings for fantasy gaming such as an orcish slaughterhouse a dwarven building and grand entrance way .
The big issue is getting to be where to store this stuff. I have loads of great buildings and figures that I would like to print but especially with the buildings am holding back because I have no space to keep them safe . I have lots of orcish and Rohan style files that I could print but would need to learn how to cut neatly do as to fit on my plate . Also World War Two buildings .
Obviously these are great none problems to have of course !
Last week we did some card games . Mike created a clever version of llama with playing cards and more cards . Then we did a few others too . Was good . We even got to play Dice Forge with the family which everyone enjoyed and Darryl won .
Couple of weeks ago Bruce introduced us to this neat board game simulation of modern warfare. So many overwhelming choices . Phil got hammered but it was lots of fun to try out the introductory scenario.
We revisited Chain of Command after ten years . Mike and Bruce played the Germans defending a village whilst Darryl and Phil’s Soviets had to push them out .
The scenario was taken from the chain of command scenario book where the Germans are trying to break through to Stalingrad.
The German panzergrenadiers defended stoutly slaughtering any Russian infantry who left the relative safety of the woods. Also even those within suffered against two LMG per squad.
However the Russian tank managed to evade and survive against the anti tank gun which failed to penetrate its armour. Once to the side of the village and out of sight it set about destroying the houses and chasing out any defenders .
Finally with time moving on the Germans decided to withdraw as they had no real answer to the Russian tank and were running out of infantry targets .
Well played everyone and great to get the rules out again . Failed to take photos !
The English Army are heading towards their lands in Bordeaux laden with booty. They come across a small town blocking their route where the French and their Scots mercenaries are blocking their path. Even the angry peasants have come out to exact their revenge. Heavily outnumbered can the famous longbowmen drive them away. The battlefield is not ideal with narrow paths between hills, fields and woods. However they must not tarry because a larger French force is in pursuit!
