Last week we did some card games . Mike created a clever version of llama with playing cards and more cards . Then we did a few others too . Was good . We even got to play Dice Forge with the family which everyone enjoyed and Darryl won .

Couple of weeks ago Bruce introduced us to this neat board game simulation of modern warfare. So many overwhelming choices . Phil got hammered but it was lots of fun to try out the introductory scenario.

We revisited Chain of Command after ten years . Mike and Bruce played the Germans defending a village whilst Darryl and Phil’s Soviets had to push them out .

The scenario was taken from the chain of command scenario book where the Germans are trying to break through to Stalingrad.

The German panzergrenadiers defended stoutly slaughtering any Russian infantry who left the relative safety of the woods. Also even those within suffered against two LMG per squad.

However the Russian tank managed to evade and survive against the anti tank gun which failed to penetrate its armour. Once to the side of the village and out of sight it set about destroying the houses and chasing out any defenders .

Finally with time moving on the Germans decided to withdraw as they had no real answer to the Russian tank and were running out of infantry targets .

Well played everyone and great to get the rules out again . Failed to take photos !

Links space marines took on the Tyranids.

The hard fought battle involved close combat against huge monsters and a dreadnought. Eventually to be space marines won through.

Mike brought along wizards quest. The old ah classic. Was able to use my artscow cards . Bruce won!

We played hero realms which went down well and Phil won.

Also tried temple tiles which was not popular . UNO was played last and Bruce was victorious.

3d printed in resin . Another hobbit home for the Shire.

Made some autumnal woods bases and a ruined terrain scatter piece. The terrain is 3d printed and placed on an old cd.

Maybe I should add some fallen leaves to these pieces?

Gallia the Hundred Years War

The English Army are heading towards their lands in Bordeaux laden with booty. They come across a small town blocking their route where the French and their Scots mercenaries are blocking their path. Even the angry peasants have come out to exact their revenge. Heavily outnumbered can the famous longbowmen drive them away. The battlefield is not ideal with narrow paths between hills, fields and woods. However they must not tarry because a larger French force is in pursuit!

Preordered this from TFL and watched their videos. Only really played GdA one once after buying it. Felt a bit outdated so hopefully the new version will work better for me. Really did like the concept.

Bruce entertained us with Source of the Nile. It was okay and certainly lots of fun watching people get stampeded by elephants or attacked by Tribes. My guide got lost and killed one space out of port so I needed some help until I found a river. I would never have moved otherwise. Other than that my botanist did okay.
