SAGA
Phil’s Strathyclyde Northern British Warband; Mike’s Normans (newly painted); Andy’s Saxons; all three fought against each other in a wooded valley in Cumbria.
First Phil’s mounted Hearthguard attacked Andy’s large Hearthtroop and each eventually destroyed the other. This left Mike untouched and his Knights slaughtered Andy’s slingers (Levy). However caught in the open they were charged by Phil’s Infantry Warriors and routed. Andy’s remaining warriors held back near the central stone circle out of range of Mike’s deadly Crossbowmen as the British outflanking forces arrived.
Next Phil and Mike’s warlords fought it out and the Normans were pushed back though with heavy losses on each side. Mike’s Crossbowmen destroyed Phil’s javelinmen who left the safety of the woods in a foolhardy attempt to close the distance and attack.
The final score was based on enemy troops killed (rather than troops surviving) so the Strathclyde British claimed the Victory this day, their noble prowess and warrior sacrifice being recorded proudly in the annals.

Making Cards for the SBG and Deus Vult
Have made up magic power spell cards for the SBG. These can be downloaded at the excellent Tales of Middle Earth site.

Also made up cards for Deus Vult. These can be downloaded from Fireforege Games here.
The cards have no backs so I made some up to go with the ones above. You can download them here deusvultcardbacks .
Finally I made up the Army Lists for our upcoming Deus Vult Medieval battle. It will be set in 13th Centrury Europe rather than the Middle East.

Preparing for the Society of Ancients Battle Day

Bolt Action
Normandy: British against Germans.
This time we played a Meeting Engagement. The British infantry (Veteran Canadians) with Sherman Tanks advanced towards the German infantry who had various Medium Tanks in reserve. A disastrous misplaced German Artillery Barrage killed an officer and destroyed a Tank. This allowed the British to advance under the cover of their own well placed barrage. They were able to capture the Hamlet and then destroy the Anti Tank Gun. This allowed the Shermans to advance and take out the enemy armour. The Germans seeing their positions under combined attack honourably withdrew and awarded the Victory to the British. Well done General Darryl ably assisted by James and Phil. Comiserations with Mike (who saw his tanks once again destroyed), Alex and Bruce (who had made a steady but slow advance down the German right flank).
See all the pictures in the Bolt Action Gallery.
Bolt Action
The Eastern Front
Andy set up another great scenario using his 20mm figures and terrain. See them in the World War Two Bolt Action Gallery.

This time the Russians attacked only to find the defenders dug in and protected by Tiger Tanks. These dealt a heavy toll on the inexperienced Russian Tanks but it was possible eventually to destroy one of them by shear weight of numbers. The dug in veteran Germans proved to be doughty hand to hand fighters and one single unit wiped out two Russian assaults. In the end the Battle was a draw. If it hadn’t been for those pesky kids (with a flamethrower) though things might have proved different.
Bolt Action
Andy set up a great game for us with Germans trying to hold off the Russians.
If it hadn’t been for those pesky kids with a flamethrower the Germans would have been triumphant. As it turned out however it was a draw.
