necron assult on the ice planet Gelidus Canis   Leave a comment

The battle started with a roll off. I (link), playing blood angels became the defender. bear playing necrons became the attacker. necrons primary was inescapable dominion and blood angels primary was secure asset. in a twist of fate we decided to draw a twist and drew scrambled comunications. this meant we swapped primaries. deployment was fairly simple, with the only deepstruck necron unit being the 400 point monolith. the angels of death kept commander dante, a blood angels captain and 5 vanguard veterans with a jump pack chaplain leading them. necrons began by moving up the skorpekh destroyers and tomblades onto one of the central objectives. the immortals walked of the home objective and onto a destroyed tank gaining cover. the towerinmg canoptek doomstalker stayed to hold the home objective. the royal warden leed his unit of warriors onto the right most objective. they then proceeded to secure asset. there were no necron charges and line of sight wouldnt allow any shooting. bear scored six points and it was over to me.

I started by moving the intercessors led by an ancient and librarian off the 4+feel no pain comfort of the home objective that they had secured in the commmand phase and had them race to the other central object. the advanced and rolled a 1, getting them tantalisingly close to where they needed to be.the eradicators moved through their light cover and into the open, all in a despersate attempt to bruise the skorpekh destroyers. the land speeder shot through to the rightmost objective and took it. in the shooting phase the eradicator and their sergeant apothecary biologis unleashed all hell upon the destroyers. there were some unfortunate rolls which led to them only killing one destroyer. the intercessors had nothing to shoot at which left the landspeeder. it unleashed an onslaught gatling canon, stormfury missiles and a multi melta against the oath of momented immortals. now is a good time to mention that i took the angelic inheritors detatchment which alowed me to reroll charges and ones to both hit and wound with every unit apart from the landspeeder. the landspeeder still managed to kill three immortals, leaving two still alive and rolled a six on its post shooting move but foolishly chose to remain stationary. i proceede to score a big fat zero which gave bear a six point lead.

necrons drew tempting target and the blood angels put it on the landspeeder objective. to the eradiators horror the skorpekh destroyers proceeded to reanimate back that figure they had tried to destroy so desperately and it began to run at them the immortals only reanimaated one and chose to stay where they were. the warriors moved forward to get line of sight to the intercessor. the librarian called an overwatch on the warriors and ended up halfing their numbers. the hulking monolith came out of deepstrike and went 9 inches away from my vulnerable landspeeder. the shooting phase started with the lokhust heavy destroyer shooting at the intercessors after hiding behibd the warriors all game. he killed three as they lacked the ancients 4+ feel no pain because they werent on an objective. the warriors then did absolutely nothing with their gauss blasters and the royal warden jumped on the trend and also did nothing the tomb blades shot at the landspeed and dealt two wounds then the monolith had a go and shredded the aircradft giving bear tempting target for 5 vps. the only charge was the skorprkh destroyers into the eradicators. two died one was left on one wound even with the use of armour of contempt. that concluded the turn and put bear comfortably ahead.

the angels of death needed to catch up. the intercessors began by running onto the now unoccupied central objective. the remaining eradicator and apothecary biologis used his once per game enhancement which allowed him to use all three of the angelic inheritors abilities, meaning he could fall back and shoot. so they passed battleshock then fell back. commander dante and the captain came in from deepstrike and appeared right on the necrons home objective to face off against the doomstalker. the vanguard veterans being led by a jump pack chaplain appeared behind the necron warriors who still remained. in the shooting phase the eradicators tried to eradicate oath of moment target the skorpekh destroyers. despite their best efforts they only did one wound. the intercessors had clear line of sight to them and used their 28 attacks of bolt rifles to do some damage. they only did 3 more wounds until the librarian stole in with another two. the captain failed to do any damage to the doomstalker with his combi rifle. the vanguard veterans fail to do anything to the warriors to conclude the shooting phase. in the charge phase dante made it to the doomstalker but the captain, despite using rites of battle for a free command re-roll and still fails and the angelic inheritors ability to re roll charges doesnt help him either. the vanguard veterans cruise in first try and easily eliminate all the warriors then the warden. the warden then uses the protocol of the eternal guardian to come back to life just for the jump pack chaplain to kill him once more, securing the objective. dante struggles angainst the doomstalkers 4+ invuln and only administers 6 wounds using the legendary axe mortalis. i then score 6 points to get me off the mark and end the turn.
